[Corrado Cagli. A Copernican Artist] pays tribute
to one of the most significant Italian artists of
the 20th century, tracing some key milestones of
his creative journey in a chronological sequence.
Dedicated to the works donated to the city of
Florence by Cagli and his heirs, the exhibition
brings together his early works as well as those
from his later years, following his experience
of exile in the United States. A painter and
draughtsman, but also a set designer, sculptor, and
tapestry artist, Cagli viewed art as a continuous
quest, as demonstrated by his multifaceted output,
which was often difficult to categorize and the
subject of both criticism and misunderstanding.
The monographic exhibition dedicated to Mirko
Basaldella provides a comprehensive overview of
the eclectic experimentation undertaken by the
Friulian artist, who was influenced by his frequent
interactions with Corrado Cagli. Focusing on
works donated to the Municipality of Florence
in the 1970s, it allows for an exploration of his
exceptional ability to engage with multiple parallel
strands of research that, while similar in content,
are linguistically distinct.
Thus, a world of restless presences comes to
life, featuring new totems and fantastic creatures,
from which emerges the artist’s constant and allencompassing
anthropological interest in the rites
and figures of archaic and distant cultures. | ISBN | 979-12-5699-008-5 | Dimensioni | 14x19 | Pagine | 248 | Prezzo | 25,00 € | |
